Picture Perfect Makeup

Maxine Bertrand

Earlier this year I decided to revamp my brand (see more here). This revamp also required new headshots of course! So I researched and spoke to some makeup artist friends to find the flawless makeup for a picture perfect face. I personally tried these five products that did create the faultless look I was looking for.

I've been pretty dedicated to NARS products for quite some time so of course they made the top 5. Note there is no particular order to the products.

1. The NARS Radiant Concealer works great; you just have to make sure to put in on moderately and apply with a concealer brush.

2. Make Up Forever High Definition Microfinish Powder finishes your makeup perfectly. It leaves a "Photoshop" finish but again needs to be applied lightly or else you will get a cake finish.

3. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is by far the best product I've ever owned. It literally makes your eyeshadow, whether cream or powder, stick to your lids for the entire day. On top of it, it creates a nice smooth base for your shadow.

4. NARS Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer - Oil-Free. This preps your face perfectly leaving a smooth surface prior to putting on your foundation. It also prevents it from melting so to speak.

5. Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation goes on as a cream but has highlighting powder finish.

There you have it. The 5 products will make you picture perfect for you e-session to your wedding day.

Ok so maybe it had something to do with my awesome friend Isabella from Ella Photography who took my pictures. You decide for yourself!

1. NARS Radiant Concealer $34 // 2. Make Up Forever High Definition Microfinish Powder $39 // 3. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion $24 // 4. NARS Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer - Oil-Free $39 // 5. Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation $49

Hey hey! I hope everyone is well on this beautiful sunny day. If you're anything like me and follow anything wedding related on Instagram you caught all kinds of phone pictures of the Bridal Market runway. All the bridal designers were showing off their Fall 2013 collections and oh my they were stunning! I'm going to try and share a few designers this week in celebration of Bridal Market 2013. And first off... Monique Lhullier

I absolutely love Monique Lhullier! She is so beautiful and stylish and it's totally represented in her work. What do you think of Monique Lhullier's Fall 2013 collection?

Have a good one! xoxo

Things I heart : : succulents

Succulents, what can I say I am in love with them. Love them in the house, in the garden, on a on beautiful table. In a wedding or event they can be incorporated anywhere as part of your theme. In a bouquet, as a centrepiece, as a favour and even for boutonnieres.

Do you love succulents too? If so, would you incorporate them in your wedding or events?

Have a great weekend! xoxo

Welcome to the weekend : : Happy Easter!

Maxine Bertrand

Wow, today could not have turned out to be more of a beautiful Good Friday. It's stunningly bright outside and it's finally starting to warm up here in Montreal. My mother always hosts Good Friday dinner where she makes her "soul food" fish (good old Caribbean snapper). I went over there last night to help her prep today's shindig and it makes me realize jut how much I love her and how important family is. Pearl Jam said it best "Oh I'm a lucky man, to count on both hands the ones I love,.. Some folks just have one, yeah, others, they've got none". I'm so grateful to have so many people in my life that make each and everyday better than the last. My sweet loving mother, my big brother and one of my closest friends, my oh so awesome little dude (nephew) Cedrick, JBW who is also my best friend that I come home to every day, my sweet in-laws Diane and Kevin, as well as my sister-in-law Jennifer and her pretty adorable daughter Lyona and finally Grand-Maman Marie-Rose who turned 95 this month (which we celebrated last weekend). What can I say about Grand-Maman Marie-Rose? What a strong, beautiful and amazing lady. She is so loving and caring and just oozes with happiness. I have to say she is probably the person that inspires me the most to embrace life and family every moment. She sure does! If we could all be so lucky to live this long and get to see our children, grand-children and great-grand-children grow up. To make sure we could save these memories forever, I had my friend that I love so much come and take pictures of this celebration.

Here is the marvelous ribbon cake made by my good friend Chris from The Real Chef Woo Catering in collaboration with her sister Tina from Finement Sucré.

Remember the DYI I posted here for the Pearled Numbers? I am pretty satisfied with the end-result and everybody just adored them. We replaced any kind of extra decor from the ribbon cake with these and it was perfect.

The day was filled with laughter and joy and was all captured by this awesome chick that manage to take this cool shot! Did I mention that I'm grateful for her too?!

I want to hear all about you and your family, please come share the love

Happy Easter xoxo
