Been a little while since I last blogged. With the holiday brouhaha, it's been a little tough getting back into the groove of it all.
With this crazy January weather here in Montreal (warm, cold, snow, rain...you name it, we've had it) I thought this would be a perfect wedding to share with ya'll. It was such a beautiful May day and just so happen to be the last wedding to happen at the Montreal Science Centre due to the upcoming strike. Yikes! Thank goodness, because I honestly have no idea how I was supposed to break the news to my bride and groom who's guests (every single one of the 230 guests!) were all coming from the U.S. that their wedding was canceled. Once more, thank goodness that I didn't because this stunning wedding would not have happened.
This couple has a fond love affair with Montreal and so it was no doubt that when Trey asked Katie to marry him in our very own city, that they would be getting married where it all happened.
First looks are one of my absolute favourite moments of all and this one proves why. They could not look more in love at that moment. Her gown... I have no words. Of course, Carmel from Atelier Carmel just nailed this bright and colourful bouquet.
Look at how happy dad looks taking his little girl down the aisle! It had been pouring cats and dogs all day and Katie absolutely wanted to get married on the rooftop terrace of the Science Centre. We had to wipe the chairs over and over and if anyone knows this place, there are a LOT of stairs to have to bring chairs up and down. So when it cleared up, literally 30 minutes before the ceremony and hung in there until way past dinner, I can't begin to tell you had thrilled my team was!
Katie and Trey had very clear instructions on what they wanted in terms of styling of their wedding. They wanted something very urban, industrial feel with lots of greens and wood. We had a lot of work ahead of us as we went from 160 guests to 230 the week right before the wedding. I can't thank the AGF team enough because we nailed it! We had 3 bars... a really cool camper by the Lab on the terrace and 2 other bars to get ensure everyone stayed hydrated (wink!).
No details were spared. From lots of fun greens to wood platters for guests to use to get their food truck style dinner, from industrial chairs to tons of candles and last but not least, Montreal logos everywhere! Carmel created the most amazing 10 foot hanging plant structure right above the head table and of course, we couldn't go without a welcome sign stained by yours truly and finished with none other than the most talented calligrapher, Joy from Imaginejoy. This wedding was fun and original from beginning to end.
These two were just an absolute hoot to work with and wish them all the happiness in the world.
